Thermal Fuses For GHD Hair Appliances
GHD Used Original Fuses And Siriushair® Manufactured Direct Replacements.
- Please ensure you are suitably qualified and equipped to carry out electrical repairs.
- The model number of your GHD hair straightener is found on the identification label on the non switch side arm of the GHD.
- ALL fuses are tested before dispatch.
- Used original GHD fuses are removed from fully working appliances, tested and cleaned before dispatch, however being used they will have signs of use and residual thermal paste.
- Original GHD thermal fuses have very limited availability.
- Once received please ensure you test the thermal fuse continuity before fitting using a multimeter.
- If the thermal fuse activates or fails to operate after fitting, this will be caused by another faulty component, such as a capacitor or thermistor on the GHD hair straightener and does not indicate a faulty fuse.
- Thermal fuses are single use safety components, and will become open circuit if the temperature exceeds a safety level of 229 degrees celsius to prevent the GHD overheating and catching fire.
- A fuse which is open circuit after use is not faulty and can not be returned.
- Original GHD size connection eyelets for correct fit.
- TUV / CE Certified UK RoHS compliant.
GHD originally used a PEPI H1 thermal fuse on their ceramic thermistor heaters however on the latest GHD ORIGINAL S4C242 the fuse is an axial thermal fuse encased in an aluminium case which is then soldered using high temp solder to the heater.
We have ascertained from this upgrade and previous faults, that the PEPI H1 has a design fault in that oxidation occurs and the metal pads on the heater are corroded by the electrical circuit and the contact is lost which is why you often see a working heater and PEPI H1 but still the GHD is faulty. By cleaning the two heater contacts contacts and soldering the axial fuse with high temp solder, this issue is prevented and the fault resolved.
We have manufactured the axial fuse with a similar aluminium casing so it remains in contact with the heater, we also have the high heat solder available (set soldering iron to 400 degrees celsius) to affix.
- PLEASE ensure after carrying out any repair to a GHD you leave for 30 minutes before use to ensure the temperature has settled and the safety cut out feature activates correctly.
