SIRIUSHAIR® MANUFACTURED Q4 MOSFET COMPONENT FOR GHD PLATINUM + S8T262 HAIR STRAIGHTENERS (NOT PLATINUM S8T261).
Please ensure you are suitably qualified and equipped to carry out electrical repairs, this is a complex repair.
- A multimeter and soldering iron are required.
- This is a component which often fails on this model of GHD.
- This Q4 Mosfet is for the Platinum + S8T262 hair straightener, the model variant is located on the label on the inside of the non switch arm of the GHD, for other model parts please look at our other listings.
- The colour of the GHD, the original component colour, or manufacturer of the part has no relevance to the operation of the part.
- TUV / CE Certified UK RoHS compliant.
If you have a cracked heater element then this component needs to be replaced, if it is not then all other heaters replaced will also crack immediately power is applied.
This Q4 Mosfet is slightly bigger than the original and we are awaiting manufacture of an exact sized one.
Repair Order:
- Do not apply power.
- Check both heater elements with a multimeter for continuity across all four wires, both inner wires are the heater/thermistor and both outer wires are the attached thermal fuse.
- Even if you have continuity pull gently on all four wires as a short will show by a detached wire, replace with a heater from the kit.
- If you check the metal pads on the ceramic heaters to ensure no electrical burn which if present will cause a thermal fuse failure, remove with a diamond file or replace with a heater from the kit.
- If you have a cracked heater then you MUST replace the Q4 mosfet.
- Ensure wires from heaters are all pressed firmly into the PCB connectors.
- If after powering on you get the red light then check wires from heaters are connected to the PCB correctly.
This is a new listing and we are selling the Q4 mosfet to help you repair, save money and help the environment, however it is not a repair for the faint hearted.....but when your hair straightener is brought back to life the sense of accomplishment will be great....
PLEASE ensure after carrying out any repair to a GHD you leave for 30 minutes before use to ensure the temperature has settled and the safety cut out feature activates correctly.
The motherboard in the image is NOT included it is simply to show the location of the capacitors included in the repair kit supplied.
